Kiran K Telukunta studied for his bachelor's degree in India at an affiliated college of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University. His Bachelor Thesis dealt with parallel computing.
He did his master's degree at TU Freiburg, Germany with a major in artificial intelligence and a minor in bioinformatics. He carried out his master thesis in the chair of Bioinformatics on machine learning techniques which dealt with ncRNA and its structure, titled "Secondary structure motif determination in ncRNA via graph kernel based computation models".
During his master's studies he worked in a research group at the Fraunhofer Ernst-Mach-Institute as a research assistant working on the implementation of complex graphical user interface for a numerical simulation code. He also worked on a SFB-sponsored project at Cognitive Department of University of Freiburg.
He is involved in cheminformatics, database and machine learning related projects. He also takes care of the IT infrastructure of the group.
Currently he is working on fragment-based target detection methods.
